Piano: These are not the piano lessons you may have had as a child, but are the sort you wished you had! My core belief that learning the piano (while a challenging undertaking) should still be engaging and fun!
I teach using the Suzuki method, and my goal is to develop an intrinsic motivation in each child by helping them fall in love with the piano from their very first lesson. Kids should be excited to go home and practice... it shouldn't be a daily struggle!
The best age to start piano is 5-6 years, although I happily accept older children. Lessons are $35 for a half-hour lesson, with family discounts offered. Funding is available to help with tuition fees – just ask!

Guitar/Drums: Classically trained multi-instrumentalist with a music degree, over 30 years experience as a professional musician and 15 years as a tutor. Originally from the deep south, I moved to Waiheke in 2010 and for the last 10 years have been working at Te Huruhi Primary teaching guitar, drums, piano and bass to literally hundreds of pupils.
I'm very much involved in the live music scene, currently playing in big band Radio Rebelde, a new 5 piece funk band that are just getting up and running and also half of a busy duo that play every week all over Waiheke. Drama: Lucinda Peterken (qualified actor, English and Drama teacher, plus theatre director) has put hundreds of students through Speech and Drama exams over the years, in the UK and in Kenya, as well as New Zealand. She also co-founded the Waiheke Theatre Co. and regularly directs plays on Waiheke Island.
