Welcome:

Parents and Co is not just for parents at Waiheke Primary School, it is for anyone who wants to see the school thrive, and our children get the best of start in life.

We have some serious objectives, but we have some great fun pulling together, and creating some really great events:

·   Raise funds for projects/goals that will benefit our children’s education

·   Provide a communication link between home and school

·   Support & promote parent/teacher education

·   Encourage whānau involvement in all aspects of the school community

Two of the campaigns we keep supporting throughout the year are:

·   Parent volunteers / police vetting – if you want to volunteer to help with any of the school activities working with the children, you need to be police checked.  We cover the cost of the application.  Just fill in the form, and take it in to the office to be processed (along with two forms of ID).  Please allow about 3 weeks for the process.  You can pick up a hard copy of the form in the school office, or you can print it from here.  https://www.police.govt.nz/advice-services/businesses-and-organisations/nz-police-vetting-service/forms-and-guides

·   Givealittle page – we need more LSAs (Learning Support Assistants / teacher aides) at our school, and for just $25 you can make a real difference by funding an hour of their time.  Read more about this essential service, and find out how you can make a difference: https://givealittle.co.nz/org/waihekeprimaryneedsmorelsas

·       Hardship Fund - If any families are in need of financial assistance for school commitments, such as sports trips, stationery or uniforms, help could be just a conversation away. Please reach out to either P&Co (Lucy 022 637 6246) or our Principal - nick@waiheke.school.nz

If you would like to see more information about our governance framework, you can read the Agreement between WPS and the Board of Trustees, and the Parents and Co Constitution here.

Introducing your committee:

Committee members:

Caroline Halton

Kia Ora – This is year three for me in Parents and Co and I’m delighted to see some fresh faces join our committee this year. I’m mum to Lara (10) and also work full time, splitting time between WFH  and East Tamaki.

The need for P&Co to continue fundraising activities for the school remains a priority and providing our whanau with opportunities otherwise not available is important to me and the rest of the team.

Lucy Simpson

This is my third year on the P&Co Committee as secretary. Like so many of us, I am in full-time work, and have a busy life of logistics living at the Bottom End.

Last year, my son Torin completed his intermediate year, and this year my daughter Maia is in Year 6 (Pohutukawa). Both my children have been with WPS from the start of their education, and I am passionate about making sure all our WPS children get what they need to be the best they can.

Lucy Becke

My husband (Ian) and I live in Onetangi with our two kids – Oscar (7, Puriri) and Sophia (5, Titoki). I have recently taken over the Treasurer role from my neighbour.

With my youngest recently starting at the school it felt like the right time to join P&Co and support the school to keep doing their amazing job for all of our kids.

Sonia Ball

My husband Jesse and I, and children Luca (9yrs, Ti Kouka), Ali (7yrs, Puriri) and Ella (5yrs, Titoki) live by the airfield in Onetangi.

I have great flexibility in my full-time job and only need to a commute a few days a week. I’m managing the class Parent Representatives for P&Co and look forward to bringing to life more great fundraising events and activities to raise funds for the school.

Beth Johnson

I'm delighted to join the P&C committee to help the school fundraise. I'm particularly focused on our efforts to build the school a much needed library.

I work part time as a Marketing and Communications Consultant and I'm also the treasurer for Playcentre on the island.

My son Saxon joined the school this year and my daughter Frankie is already looking forward to joining in the future.

Rachelle Quaid

For the past three years, I have had the pleasure of being a part of Parents and Co, and it is wonderful to welcome and encourage new members. My daughter Amelie has also been at the school for 3 years. I work full time teaching private music lessons ... you may see me around a lot!

I joined P&Co as I wanted to actively support my daughter and her school environment.  I have met new friends through this forum and had a lot of fun along the way.  I strongly encourage all parents to get involved, as it is a rewarding way to contribute to our school's success and build lasting connections within our community.
