Te ao Māori

Waiheke Primary takes its responsibility to uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi very seriously. We respect the unique position of Māori as tangata whenua (the indigenous people) of Aotearoa New Zealand and te reo Māori (Māori language) as an official New Zealand language. At WPS we provide our students with a range of experiences and teaching of the language, customs and history of Māori.
