Art Competitions

Link Alliance are the organisation responsible for building the City Rail Link and they are currently running a competition for schools. They would like students to design their dream public transport station!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • the competition is open to Primary, Intermediate and Secondary students (up to Year 10);

  • entries can be hard copy, video, digital or photos and as creative and innovative as you like!

  • the competition closes on Thursday 30th September 2021 at 5pm;

  • there will be 3 prizes of $200 and that money will go to the schools of the winning students;

We’re looking for children's' artwork for this year’s 'Te Ara Kirihimete - The Path of Christmas', Christmas cards. Four images will be selected from the entries and made into Christmas cards that your friends and whanau can share around the world. Proceeds from card sales will go into the prize pool for the winning Christmas Tree in Oneroa’s Forest of Christmas.

So get your pens, crayons, paper, pastels or collage materials out and create a picture that says something about Christmas/summer/Raumati on Waiheke or draws upon your favourite Christmas song or story, what you love best about summer/Christmas or your Christmas/New Year message to the world.

  • Entries are open to those aged from 3 - 18 years of age.

  • There are prizes for all those who enter and gift vouchers for those whose artwork is selected.

  • All entries will be publicly displayed as part of Te Ara Kirihimete celebrations.

  • Please scan or photograph your entry with your name, age, contact details to Entires close 30th September 2021.

Waiheke Youth Art Awards Ngā Tohu Toi Rangatahi o Waiheke Competition -

This is an art competition open to all under 18 year old youth who live on Waiheke Island. It is a fantastic opportunity for young kids, with age specific awards.

All entries are also considered for the Rotary Waiheke Youth Art Award for Excellence which has a prize of $1000.

Street Art Bike Challenge.

The EcoMatters Bike Hubs have launched the Street Art Bike Challenge, a month-long photo treasure hunt by bike, in which people are invited to look for street art across the Auckland region and share their photos with the hashtag #StreetArtBikeChallenge. The challenge is part of Biketober, Auckland's annual festival of bicycle fun and will run from 1 – 31 October 2021.

The challenge is a family-friendly event all ages can enjoy while adhering to Covid-19 restrictions and physical distancing. Is this an event that you would promote to your students and their families?
