We were very fortunate to have all modes of travel and the safety of surrounding roads analysed by Auckland City Council and Auckland Regional Council who produced a comprehensive Travel Plan for our school. The aim of this plan is to reduce the use of cars, decrease the possible congestion at the school gate and improve the safety of the local roads for our school community. By BusA subsidised bus service is provided by Auckland City Council. The bus route begins at Palm Beach at the bottom of Miro Road at approximately 8.05am, continues along Palm Road, Te Toki Road, Wharf Road, Belgium Street and along Sea View Road into the school. It follows this route in reverse at the end of the school day. By CarIf you must bring your child(ren) to school by car, please drive into the carpark, and drop off at the closest point to the school buildings. Please ensure your child(ren) exits/enters the car on the footpath side. If parking in the central car-park area please accompany your child across the line of oncoming traffic into the school buildings. If you do drop your child off at the road entrance, please ensure that they use the Kea Crossing for safety reasons. By CycleChildren who are ten years or over are able to bike to school but must wear a helmet. Walking School BusNow that our bus is well established we are in the process of putting in place a Walking School Bus to start from Whakarite Road. New parents are encouraged to support our Walking School Bus programme if they live along this route. Kea CrossingWe are fortunate to have a Kea Crossing outside our school gate. Trained patrols are in place at the crossing before and after school with an adult supervisor. New parents are encouraged to join the roster to share this responsibility. After School TravelPlease ensure that each day your child knows what the arrangements are for travel after school. |
