Travel Plan

Travel plan

We were very fortunate to have all modes of travel and the safety of surrounding roads analysed by Auckland City Council and Auckland Regional Council who produced a comprehensive Travel Plan for our school. The aim of this plan is to reduce the use of cars, decrease the possible congestion at the school gate and improve the safety of the local roads for our school community.

By Bus

A subsidised bus service is provided by Auckland City Council. The bus route begins at the Matiatia Wharf at approximately 8.00am, continues along Palm Road, Te Toki Road, Wharf Road, Belgium Street and along Seaview Road into the school. It follows this route in reverse at the end of the school day. If you live further than 3.2km away from Waiheke Primary School you are entitled to the free bus service. This service includes Orapiu, Onetangi and Rocky Bay. For more information please contact the school office during office hours.

By Car

If you must bring your child(ren) to school by car, please drive into the carpark, and drop off at the closest point to the school buildings. Please ensure your child(ren) exits/enters the car on the footpath side. If parking in the central carpark area please accompany your child across the line of oncoming traffic into the school buildings. If you do drop your child off at the road entrance, please ensure that they use the Kea Crossing for safety reasons.

By Cycle

Children who are ten years or over may cycle to school but must wear a helmet.

Kea Crossing

We are fortunate to have a Kea Crossing outside our school gate. Trained patrols are in place at the crossing before and after school with an adult supervisor. New parents are encouraged to join the roster to share this responsibility.

After School Travel

Please ensure that each day your child knows what the arrangements are for travel after school.
